Privacy notice

This privacy notice applies to information held about customers or prospective customers, suppliers, artists and tutors, and all other persons about whom Blockley Studio holds information. It explains what you can expect Blockley Studio to do with the personal information it collects about you.  In this notice, “we,” “us,” and “our” means Blockley Studio, and “you” means the individual to whom the information relates.

What information we collect

We collect and use the following information to provide you with services and goods, or to communicate with you about services and goods you provide to us:

  • your name

  • your contact information such as your address, email address and telephone number

  • your payment details (including card or bank information)

  • any health information you choose to provide us with, such as dietary requirements, allergies and health conditions

  • information related to your attendance of, and interest in Blockley Studio’s workshops

We collect information from you directly:

  • through your use of the forms on our website

  • by corresponding with you by phone or email

  • by what you tell us in person

 Lawful bases and data protection rights

Under UK data protection law, we must have a “lawful basis” for collecting and using your personal information. There is a list of possible lawful bases in the UK GDPR. Our lawful bases for collecting or using your personal information to provide services and goods are:

  • Contract – we have to collect or use the information so we can enter into or carry out a contract with you. All of your data protection rights may apply except the right to object.

  • Legitimate interests – we are collecting or using your information because it benefits you, our organisation or someone else, without causing an undue risk of harm to anyone. All of your data protection rights may apply, except the right to portability. Our legitimate interests are: (i) collecting personal information to provide you with a smooth and efficient customer experience; (ii) to make sure you receive updated information on Blockley Studio activities; (iii) to provide the services you have requested; (iv) for our own marketing and research, including identifying potential customers, artists, tutors and other contacts, and to provide the relevant information about artists, workshops, and other activities.

Data protection rights

  • Your right of access - You have the right to ask us for copies of your personal information. You can request other information such as details about where we get personal information from and who we share personal information with. There are some exemptions which means you may not receive all the information you ask for.

  • Your right to rectification - You have the right to ask us to correct or delete personal information you think is inaccurate or incomplete

  • Your right to erasure - You have the right to ask us to delete your personal information.

  • Your right to restriction of processing - You have the right to ask us to limit how we can use your personal information.

  • Your right to object to processing - You have the right to object to the processing of your personal data.

  • Your right to data portability - You have the right to ask that we transfer the personal information you gave us to another organisation, or to you.

  • Your right to withdraw consent – When we use consent as our lawful basis you have the right to withdraw your consent at any time.

How long we keep information

We will only keep the information we collect about you for as long as required for the purposes set out above or as required to comply with any legal obligations to which we are subject. This may involve us reviewing our files from time to time to check that information is accurate, up-to-date and still required.

If you are one of our customers, or have otherwise agreed to be contacted for marketing, we may retain the contact information necessary for this purpose for as long as you do not unsubscribe from receiving mailings. You can unsubscribe from receiving mailings at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link included in each electronic mailing we send you, or by “unsubscribing” from our mailing list at any time.

Sharing your information

Except as expressly set out in this policy we will not sell, distribute or lease your personal information to third parties unless we have your permission or are required by law to do so.
