In this day-long course you will be making a fun characterful version of a dog, not a particular breed of dog, around 18 cm tall, built around a wire armature. The day will begin with the construction of the armature - a simple wire frame around which you will construct your model. Then follows the process of ‘fleshing out’ your animal, adding the outer layer and finally those all important little details - eyes, nose, ears - which make each finished item unique. All this is achieved using just wool and special felting needles. You will not be using false eyes or noses, and there is no sewing involved. No previous textile experience of any kind is needed, and the accent of the day is primarily on fun, with the satisfaction of being able to take home a unique creation of your own.
All materials are included, as are lunch and refreshments. All you need to bring along is enthusiasm!
Known to the needle-felting world as Furzie, Michelle Hickman has been teaching the craft for over a decade and has taught over two thousand people. Her creations have sold around the world, and last year saw the publication of her first book on the subject.
